FOR TRAINERS AND COACHES
Trainerbase is a company that brings providers of training in to contact with purchasers of training. It is also the trade association for freelance trainers in the UK. It is a membership site requiring annual subscription. This incidentally is incredibly good value and should be probably be a lot more. Although the company is based in the UK it is not exclusive to UK members. So if you live in other countries you can still get useful information.
TrainerBase also provides personal, operational and commercial support and certification service to freelance, independent and other Learning professionals.
Businessballs
Business Balls is a mine of information which is free to access. It provides a very wide range of great information on all things to do with Management, leadership, training, HR etc. There are many consultant tools such as exercises, information sheets, recommendations. Much of it is also very strong theoretically – so you get excellent quality knowledge.
This is also a very motivational site if you are just starting out or looking to develop your business. It provides help and texts that will help you to write your own material. It’s also a good research tool if you want to find out about any idea in management development or training. I’ve used this a lot myself and can highly recommend it.
The Internet Marketing Centre
The internet marketing centre is a fantastic resource if you are taking seriously the prospect of selling your consultancy, knowledge, products and services online. Their services vary and to be honest do not come cheap but the information and knowledge that can be gained is immense. I have purchased a lot of their information and I have to say it has (and continues) to provide me with my internet marketing learning needs.
The site was set up by the internet marketing legend Cory Rudl way back in the early days of the internet. Following his tragic death the company was led by Derek Gehl (who recently retired as CEO). They remain at the forefront of the internet marketing industry.
Trainer Active
Trainer Active is run by a company called Fenman. This is one of the main publishers of training manuals and information. They offer a wide range of material and with easily downloadable information. These are very useful when starting out. An efficient way to access their materials is to buy some ‘credits’. These credits are ‘spent’ as you download each product.
Trainer’s Library
This is another subscription/membership site which provides access to a library of really useful resources, toolkits, exercises, games and an online discussion forum. The £95 registration fee and repeat £24 monthly fee, in my view is really good value. If you are looking for resources and new things to include in your training portfolio then this is the place to go for ideas and products.
Ecademy
Ecademy is an internet based network of professionals in a range of knowledge based industries and professions. It offers a really good mix of business networking and social networking. It is well worth getting to know this site and starting an account on it as it is proven to have had a significant impact on business development. You can choose between being a ‘PowerNetworker’ membership or investing in what is described as ‘Black Star’ obviously the second one gives a ton more versatility and access than the first. But you can use Powernetworker to find out what it is all about.
LinkedIn is an online network whose users number more than 20 million. These are experienced knowledge professionals from all around the world and said to represent more than, 150 different professions and industries. So, almost any kind of consultancy is catered for here. Although it is essentially a social and business networking site, I have included it as a resource because there are a lot of people here with a lot of information and knowledge to pass on.
You can submit your profile and tell the world all about yourself and what you have to offer. This helps you to be located by anyone looking for a person with your kinds of skills and experience. You can be found by former colleagues, clients, and partners so like other networking sites it can combine social with business networking.
LinkedIn is free to join. But there is also the offer of a paid account that will offer you more advantages. This site is certainly worth a look and setting up a profile on.
Examples of knowledge specialsists selling their expertise
Here I have just provided some examples of people who have decided to make money from their knowledge. Some have set up consultancies others simply advertise their skills and services as experts in a particular field. Some are employed professionals others are frelancers. This resource base grows on a weekly basis so keep looking to increase your own knowledge of who to set up your own knowledge business.
These are websites of people who are selling either their specialist knowledge online or advice on how to do it … No, I haven’t chosen the showcases… these are just ordinary people who have decided to have a go…
All of these were ranked in the top pages of Google.
